Female breasts are symbols of beauty and femininity, and every woman wants to be confident in their appearance. But some women have small breasts with little fullness, while others have large breasts that droop downwards.
Breasts that are droopy and deflated can make a woman look older and lower her self-esteem. The main factors that contribute to changes in women’s breasts are pregnancy and breastfeeding. Other factors that can cause breast sagging include gravity’s effect (especially on overly large breasts), the ageing process, weight fluctuations, and hormonal changes.
Also known as Mastopexy, a breast lift surgery addresses sagging, uneven breasts, decreased breast volume, drooping nipples, and stretched areolas (the darker area surrounding the nipples), offering a youthful shape and firmness to your breasts. If there is too little or too much breast volume, breast augmentation or breast reduction might be recommended in addition to a lift.
There are different breast lift procedures that can be used to lift your breasts and restore their youthful shape and appearance. Sometimes, this involves using implants, a procedure called augmentation-mastopexy.
Dr Adnan Tahir is a specialist plastic surgeon revered for his minimally invasive yet highly accurate breast lift surgery in Dubai. His ideology to do the minimum surgical incision work to achieve the desired results guides him to deliver safe and durable aesthetic surgeries.
Drooping and deflating of breasts is medically termed ‘breast ptosis.’ Anyone diagnosed with breast ptosis is likely a good candidate for a breast lift. However, there are a variety of breast lift techniques available, and the best one for you will be determined by the degree of your breast ptosis, which usually occurs in three levels:
Mild ptosis (grade I):
This is considered the mildest form of breast ptosis. In this case, there is mild skin laxity and sagging, and the nipple is usually at the level of the inframammary fold, but the nipples do not face down.
Advanced ptosis (grade III):
This is the most severe form of breast sagging, involving significant skin laxity and sagginess. The lower breast tissue is significantly lower than, the lower crease and nipple in this case.
Moderate ptosis (grade II):
There is moderate skin laxity and sagging in this case. The nipples begin to point downwards as the breast tissue sits below the inframammary fold.
Breast lift surgery is commonly recommended if your surgeon thinks that breast implants alone are unlikely to achieve your desired contour. Ideally, any woman about the age of 18 who fits the following criteria can seek breast lift surgery in Dubai. This includes women who have:
Breast Lift Surgery (with or without Implant)
A breast lift can be done with or without implants, depending on the patient’s initial characteristics and preferences. A breast lift without implants can be a good option if the breasts are sagging, but there is enough tissue, and the patient is happy with the size.
Breast lift with implants may be the best option when the breasts are sagging and empty, and the patient wants to increase size and cleavage effect. However, all breast lift techniques result in some loss of breast volume. It could be up to one cup in size. Unless augmented with an implant or autologous fat, a woman wearing a C cup size may end up with a B cup size.
Internal Bra Methods of Lifting
Skin laxity and droopy breasts can result from ageing, post-pregnancy, and after massive weight loss. Since such weakened breast tissues may not support an implant adequately, the internal bra technique can be used alongside breast augmentation.
The internal bra technique supports the breasts and breast implants, resulting in a breast lift effect in patients with minimal to moderate breast ptosis (droopiness). This method aims to achieve the results of a push-up bra without having to use one and without scars associated with traditional breast lift procedures.
It involves using a synthetic mesh that is used to wrap the breast tissue in the lower pole of the breast. This mesh dissolves over time and is replaced with collagen and scar tissue, providing long-term contouring results and a lifted look.
The internal bra technique is sometimes combined with a small scar around the areola to provide additional lift. In many cases, the internal bra can offer dramatically natural results that cannot be achieved with breast augmentation and lift alone.
No two breast lifts are alike, and breast lift surgery scars will vary depending on various factors such as sagging, size, shape, and the final shape you want to achieve. As a general rule, the less sagging and the less you’re attempting to correct, the fewer incisions and scarring you’ll experience. Breast lift surgery scars can be classified into three categories.
Periareolar Or Donut Incision
The periareolar or donut incision is a popular way to correct light sagging because only a small amount of skin is removed. First, an incision around the areola is made, followed by a second outer incision to remove excess skin around the edge of the areola.
Vertical Or Lollipop Incision
For women with moderate sagging, the vertical or lollipop scar is a popular option. A keyhole shape incision is used for a lollipop lift, which preserves the nipple while removing excess skin below it. The areola is lifted to its new and higher position while suturing skin edges together.
Inverted-T Or Anchor Incision
The inverted or anchor breast lift is the most traditional technique for correcting severe breast sagging levels that necessitate the removal of a significant amount of skin. Breast lift anchor scars are placed around the areola and in the inframammary fold in this technique. The area below the areola has a significant amount of skin removed, and the areola is lifted to its new position.
Breast augmentation is a popular procedure for women who want to improve their breast appearance, but it may not be appropriate for every woman. Unless you have a very mild degree of sagging, breast augmentation will not correct droopy breasts on its own.
It is possible to combine a breast lift and augmentation in the same surgery if you have droopy breasts and nipples facing down but also want to increase the size of your breasts.
The coloured area around each nipple is known as areola. Areolas, like breasts, come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colours. Their size, shape, and even colour can change due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, and hormonal changes, which may or may not return to their original appearance.
Women with sagging breasts are frequently dissatisfied with the appearance of their areolas. Therefore, an areola reduction is commonly performed as part of a breast lift procedure. Because the areola has scars around it, the plastic surgeon will reduce its size to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
Since breast lift is a highly customized procedure with multiple methods for achieving the desired results, Dr Adnan would be best able to guide you in understanding your average breast lift surgery cost in Dubai at any clinic. However, there are a few primary factors that drive the overall expenses of the surgery, which include:
Considering these factors, the average cost of Breast Lift surgery in Dubai starts from 40,000 AED (excluding VAT). The final cost can be determined during your first consultation with Dr Adnan.
Breast lift recovery takes time, just like any other surgery. The better prepared you are, the less difficult it will be.
It is critical to understand what to expect from a breast lift surgery so that you can plan your life accordingly in the days following the procedure (work, kids, home duties, social events, etc.).
Discomfort, mild to moderate pain, swelling, and bruising is common after-effects of a breast lift, whether with or without implants. Every patient, however, is unique and may react differently.
Here’s everything you need to know about the recovery process for breast lift surgery, including how you’ll feel, what to expect, and how to care for your new breasts. Each patient is unique, and each patient’s recovery will be unique as well.
Immediately After The Surgery
Breast lift surgery is usually done under general anaesthesia, and the patient is discharged the next day. You will feel tired, sleepy, and possibly dizzy when you wake up from anaesthesia.
Swelling and pressure will also be felt in the chest area, especially when you breathe deeply. Because you are not permitted to drive, you will have to arrange for your trip back home.
The First Three Days
You can resume most activities, such as driving, easy home cleaning, and other easy activities.
You can return to work (if your job does not require a lot of physical exertion) and gradually increase the intensity of your workouts at the gym.
After 3 to 6 months, the final result of your breast lift surgery becomes apparent as the shape and position of the breasts settle. Scars are permanent, but they will fade with time.
A breast lift will give you a more appealing and youthful figure by lifting droopy breasts for a perkier and uplifted profile, assuming you are a good candidate.
The results are visible right after surgery, but by the fourth to sixth week, you’ll have a better idea of what to expect because most swelling has subsided, and scars start to fade.
The effects of your breast lift will last for a long time, but they will change over time due to ageing and gravity.
Dr Adnan will personally guide you in understanding if this procedure is right for you and how it could transform your life during your first consultation.
